Horsemanship Merit Badge Information: (Time Sensitive!)

September 16: Day trip to Saukenauk for the Horsemanship Merit Badge Workshop (class size
is limited to 25 participants - there are 11 openings remaining as of today).  We will spend the
day at Saukenauk.  Scouts can choose to earn the merit badge or do other activities for fun
and advancement such as fishing, hiking, cooking, map and compass work, etc.

The cost of the Horsemanship Merit Badge Workshop is $20 per person and includes lunch.
To reserve your spot you can visit the scout office and submit payment, or submit payment to
me and I will see that you are registered.  To use scout account funds simply notify me and I
will see that you are registered immediately.  If you are visiting camp with the troop and not
taking the merit badge there is no charge.

Other events such as open program days at Saukenauk are listed in the attached calendar for
September and October.

We will camp as a troop at Saukenauk Oct. 6-8 to participate in the shooting sports and
climbing tower programs.  Note that rappelling down the climbing tower can be used to
complete Camping Merit Badge requirement 9b!  Scouts that need to complete this
requirement should consider attending.

Scouts are welcome and encouraged to independently take advantage of the other program
days (ATVs, Cope Course) by registering at the scout office.

Note also that the Kayaking Merit Badge will be taught by Mrs. Michelle Meyer at Saukenauk.
Two Sundays will be chosen from the following: Sept. 10, 17 or Oct. 1.

We have Wheelchairs in September.  We will meet at 8AM at the All-Faiths Chapel at the
Illinois Veterans' Home (in uniform) each Sunday in September for this very important service
